この度、弊クラブ所属リック・リカート選手が現役選手を引退する運びとなり、それに伴い、2018-19シーズンの選手契約を解除することとなりましたので、お知らせいたします。
リカート選手とは2016年より3シーズン契約を締結しており、すでに2018-19シーズンの契約継続合意も発表しておりましたが、リカート選手本人より「2017-18シーズンをもって現役選手を引退したい」という申し出がありました。
その後協議を重ねましたが、本人の意向を尊重して引退の申し出を受諾し、双方合意の上契約を途中解除することとなりました。

「Dear Ibaraki Robot's fans and to those who support me,
茨城ロボッツのファンの皆様と、私を支えてくださった方々へ。

After 2 seasons with the Ibaraki Robots and now after 15 season's as a professional basketball player, I have decided to retire and close the doors on a basketball career I am proud to call my own. I am thankful to finish my career with the Robots in Japan. I have finished 7 season playing in Japan and I will always love Japan.
茨城ロボッツでの2年と、プロバスケットボール選手としての15年のシーズンを終えて、この度、私自身の誇りであったバスケットボールのキャリアを引退し、幕を降ろす決断をしました。自分のキャリアを日本で、ロボッツの一員として終えることをありがたく思います。日本では7シーズンプレーしましたし、これからも日本は大好きです。

 I have not come to this decision lightly, in fact retirement is on a professional athlete's mind throughout their career. Timing cannot be predicted because it can vary but for me this is the right time. 
事実、引退というのはプロのアスリートには常に頭にあるものですが、私にとってこの決断を下すことは容易なものではありませんでした。引退のタイミングというものは変わっていきますし、予測できるものではありませんが、私にとっては今がそのタイミングとなりました。

The 2017-2018 season came to a close and I am thankful to retire without lifelong injuries and with a 15 year career that shapes who I am today. 
2017-2018シーズンが終わりを迎え、大きな怪我なく、今の私を形作った15年のキャリアを引退できることに感謝しています。

I look back on my years with gratitude and accomplishment, each season has built my career and I take all my years with me as I move forward into my post playing years. 
これまでの月日に感謝するとともに、成し遂げたこと、私を形作ったそれぞれのシーズン、そしてこれまでのすべての日々を、引退後にも心に留めておこうと思います。

Basketball will always be my core and I know our paths will cross off the court again. Thank you all so much for the support you have shown me and specifically thank you to the whole Robots organization. 
バスケットボールは常に私の中心にあるものであり、きっとまた再びコートの外でお会いする事でしょう。これまで私を支えてくださった方々、特にロボッツに関わる方々には心から感謝しています。

I will miss the Robots community, as I do after each team departure but please know I take you with me as I move forward to my next journey after basketball. 
どのチームから離れるときもそうですが、ロボッツのコミュニティから去ることを寂しく思います。ただ、忘れないでいて欲しいのは、バスケットボールの後の私の旅路には、みなさんとの思い出があるということです。

The Ibaraki Robots are going to have continued deserved success and I will support the organization, I am thankful to have been a key role in the team foundation and beginning years.
茨城ロボッツはこれからも成功し続けるでしょうし、今後も私はロボッツの組織をサポートしていくつもりです。チームの基礎を作る大切な役割を、当初から数年に渡り担うことができたことに感謝しています。

 Please know, I will be following the Robots next season and supporting my team from my home in the United States. 
もちろん、来シーズンもロボッツには注目しますし、アメリカの我が家から、私のチームであるロボッツを応援し続けます。

The transition from player to retired player is new territory but after 15 years playing and giving everything I can physically on the court I am ready to make this transition and maintain a healthy body. 
現役選手を引退し、選手ではなくなることは経験のない事ですが、15年に渡りコート上で全力を出しきってきたので、今後はその変化を受け入れ、健康を維持していこうと思っています。

Although I am healthy today, my body has taken countless hits and brutal games. I always give 100% so each game put my body on the line, it is time for me to look after my body and be thankful I was able to have a long and successful career for 15 years around the world.
今現在は健康な身体ではありますが、この身体でこれまで数え切れないぶつかり合いを、過酷な試合の中で受けてきました。すべての試合で常に100%を出しながら、世界中で15年という長いキャリアを戦い抜いたこの身体に感謝し、いたわる時間が来たように感じています。

 I hope to make it back to Japan in the near future and have a continued strong relationship with the Robots and Japanese basketball. Japan basketball will always be a part of me and Japan is loved by my family and we will always visit. 
近い将来再び日本に訪れることが出来ればと思いますし、日本のバスケットボールと、ロボッツとの強い関わり合いを持ち続けられればと思っています。日本のバスケットボールは私の一部ですし、日本は家族からも愛されているので、いつでも訪れたいと思います。
